Expect the unexpected

Which is more improbable?

-The Angels beat the Red Sox in the playoffs in Anaheim for the first time since before I was born, earning their first postseason shutout in franchise history behind a masterful pitching pairing of John Lackey and Darren Oliver.
-The Kings beat the Minnesota Wild 6-3 to open their season 2-1 despite allowing 13 goals over their first three games.

Wow.

From the moment I found myself capable of writing coherent sentences with one of those huge pencils in kindergarten, I've been fond of written word as a form of communication. As I've gone to college and majored in engineering, my opportunities to write have declined in number and quality.

I decided to start writing this blog once I realized my friends were sick of hearing me talk about sports, particularly when so few of them shared the same team interests.

The "pool" referenced in the title block is not a pool at all. It's the blue area of the goal crease in hockey. Geometry is a serious discipline in goaltending. Increase the depth of your body in the net and you decrease the available empty net area.
